Family Camping 2016

So early spring my sister-in-law asked us if we wanted to join her family camping.  They had arranged to say in a yurt on DeGray Lake in Arkansas and asked if we wanted to come for the fun.  We jumped at the opportunity to hang with them & were bummed when they had to cancel the trip because they got new jobs and were moving.  Well, they said we could still go & have their yurt reservations.  I was a little leery of camping with 4 little girls in the heat of summer, but we decided to brave the elements and go!  We had already told the girls about the trip and they were super excited about it, so we decided to just go for it.

Now... I'm not much of a "camper," but we had a great time!  I liked the yurt because we didn't have to set up a tent and there were bunk beds in it & a fan, so it was a little more high-tech than a tent.  There were also bathrooms & showers within walking distance, so it wasn't too much of a roughing it trip.  The girls had a BLAST!

We didn't do much at all.  We ate, we swam, and we just hung out as a family.  It wasn't as hot as what I thought it would be.  The tree cover & shade was great.  The first night the girls had a hard time falling asleep because they said they were hot, but the second night a "cold front" came through and it was so nice!  We even cuddled up under our blankets!  The lake was gorgeous & it was super relaxing to just hang out all together.

Here are a few pictures of our trip that Lantz took with his phone:

While Lantz was working on the splinter at one point I was trying to distract Sawyer by putting make-up on her.  Ha!

I'm so glad that we decided to go ahead and go camping.  It turned out to be a great trip & one that we look forward to doing again!

We topped the camping off with a quick trip up to Little Rock to see Aunt Feather & Uncle Ellis!  For some reason we only have one picture.  It's when Aunt Feather took the big girls to see Finding Dori. They were so excited to have a little one on one time with Feather:
