Preslee is 13 Months Old

So 13 months old is always pretty odd to write about.  It's like everything builds up to 1 and then the next big number is 18 months old.  Thirteen months is like the first post of an odd line up until 18 months old.  But I'm still so excited to track my babies month to month the first few years.  So much happens within a month!  I can't believe that not only has one come and gone, but it's already a whole month after ONE.

Sweet Girl,

- You have really taken off this month!  Forget that walking with caution... you are trying to figure out how to run and keep up with your sisters.
- You got to go on a "walk" with your Daddy & big sisters last week.  You went out and walked up and down the side walk with everyone.  You thought you were so big!
- You are still breastfeeding five times a day.  For a few days you seemed you might want to ween yourself, but then you decided not to.  {Thanks for helping Mommy keep her milk in for our next baby!}
- Speaking of milk, we've rotated in some organic whole milk with a little Ovaltine to sweeten it up so you'll drink it.  You really like it!
- We did ween you from your pacifier right after you turned one.  You have done great!  We just transitioned you from that to sleeping with a little stuffed bunny.
- You still have 4 top teeth and 2 bottom.
- You are wearing 12 month clothes, and size 4 & 5 shoes depending on the shoe.
- As you eat your solids we have given you a spoon or fork for you to "try" to feed yourself.  You look so determined to try to do it all on your own like your sisters.  It's so sweet!
-You have really been playing with baby dolls like your sisters lately.  You will grab a baby and walk around holding it, or pushing a stroller.  It's the cutest thing ever!
- You understand the word, "no," but don't like to adhere to it's meaning.  You are stubborn and have a mind of your own.
- You are so vocal.  You really let us know with your vocal cords what you like & dislike.
- You take two naps a day.  One typically around an hour to an hour and a half, and one closer to two hours. You sleep great all night still!
- You try to grab things off the table or counter now.  Especially if someone else is eating something and you don't have any.... we all have to watch out or you'll reach and try to grab it!

Sweet Preslee Ray, I can't believe how big you are getting so fast.  You seem so interested in trying to keep up with you sisters and yet at the same time you are still my little baby who wants me to hold her.  My heart fills with joy when I think of you and how much fun you are.  You like to be right in the middle of everything and participate with whatever is going on.  You are most certainly our social butterfly!  You are so silly and I have loved watching your little personality start develop.  Your smile still lights up a room!  I love you so much and I'm so thankful that I get to be your Mommy.

Kennedie, I love doing this little interview with you.  I love to hear your perspective on things and to see "you" according to "you."  Here is a little bit about you from what I see:

- You are still very observant.  You like to sit back and notice what is going on before you jump in and participate.  BUT, you are quicker to participate that what you used to be.  You just want to check it all out first.
- You LOVE stories.  You are so much like me in this sense.  Whether it is a story from a book, a movie, a tv show, or a made up story from someone else- you will sit and be attentive.  You love to get lost in the story.  If a movie is on the tv, you will be so into it that you won't even respond if we talk to you.
- Next week you will finish up KR {Kindergarten Readiness}.  You have learned SO much this year.  You know your shapes, colors, days of the week, all your letters, you can count to 50, and the BIGGEST thing: you learned to READ!!  The last month has been constant practicing of making sounds and trying to put them together.  Over the last few weeks,  you have finally been able to sound out letters to read!  It's been so exciting!  You go to school 3 days a week- Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8:30 to 2:30.  You have amazing teachers, Mrs. DeLaughter and Mrs. Jackson.  You had another amazing teacher, Mrs. Stein, at the beginning of the year.  Unfortunately,  you experienced  death this year too.  One month ago Mrs. Stein lost her battle to cancer and we had to talk about heaven and her being with God now.
- You are such a compassionate girl.  You are concerned for others and care about others.
- Your teachers brag on you all the time about how well you play with other children.  They have said that you are one of the kids in the class that they can count on to include everyone and play with everyone.  What a joy to know you are such a sweet girl!
- Every night you sleep with a stuffed animal.  You rotate every three days between your giraffe, Lizzie or your Panda, or your Sven.  It's sweet how you always want to know "what night is it tonight."
- Before bedtime we read a Bible story.  You always pride yourself in finding the story we are on each night.  Before we close the Bible story book for the night you always want to see what we are going to read the next night so that you can be sure to find it the next day.
- You can officially buckle your car seat by yourself.  Awesome!  We check it, but you can get in and buckle both the top and bottom buckle.  What a great help!
-Speaking of help... you are such a great cleaner!  You always know exactly where to put things and you can really clean the toy room up so nicely.
- Most days you don't nap anymore.  If we need you to lay down, you certainly do, and you still sleep for about two hours.  The problem is then that you don't fall asleep very easily at night.  Sunday's you still nap with your sisters, but that is the only consistent nap time you have. We try to lay you down earlier if you haven't napped.  You will lay down anytime between 7:45 to 9:00 depending.  You typically wake up sometime between 7 & 8 {depending on when you went to bed}.
- You are such a little Mommy.  You really do LOVE playing with babies.  Most of our day consists of playing babies.  You like to pretend you have a baby in your belly.  You love to hold your baby and walk up to me and say, "Hey girl!"  That is your official way to engage me in your baby playing.  It's so funny! You also like to play babies with Sawyer and Preslee.  You are an awesome big sister!
- You love to be outside!  You love playing on the park, going on walks{or running ahead and up and down people's yards}, and riding your bike.
- You seem to be more of a "Mommy's girl," and I'll take it!  You prefer for me to rock you at night and cuddle you. I obviously love this!
-You are still very small.  Today we bought you new shorts... they were a size three.  The problem we have is that you are tall and so lots of times pants, dresses, skirts, and shorts will be too short if we buy a smaller size to fit your frame, but most size 5's are very wide on you.  You are definitely hard to fit in terms of clothes.
- You have really enjoyed coloring lately.  You will pull out a coloring book almost every day and sit and color for about an hour.  You love it, but you get frustrated with Preslee when she tries to grab your book or crayons.  You are an awesome colorer, though.  You always like to try to stay inside the lines.

My sweet first baby Kennedie, I really can't believe that you are five years old today.  I will never forget the first time I held you in my arms.  You were the most perfect and beautiful thing I had ever seen in my whole life.  I had never in my life experienced so much love. You flooded me with emotions that have yet to run dry.  Your smile can light up a room and I can't begin to describe the joy your hugs evoke in me.... your little arms will squeeze me so tightly and it's as if your whole body is smiling as you hang on.  I love it!  I love how tender your heart is and how concerned you are for others and their well being.  You are a great listener and very attentive to details.  You bring so much excitement and enthusiasm to the smallest of things and it's so contagious.  Your heart is precious and  I love how I can already see a longing for God in your life.  Your prayers are so sweet and heartfelt and you love to read the Bible and go to Bible class.  This makes my Momma heart so happy.  My biggest prayer for you is not that you will be the smartest girl, or the prettiest girl, or the most athletic girl, or the most artistic girl... but instead my prayer is that you will follow God with all your heart and that you will fall in love with HIM and passionately seek HIM and follow HIM and trust HIM... that you will confess Christ as your Savior, the Son of God, be baptized, and walk in HIS light and share that light with others.  Baby girl, you are one of my biggest joys and I feel so blessed to be your Mommy.  I am so grateful that the Lord let you make me a Mommy five years ago... for that my heart will forever overflow with thanksgiving.  Kennedie, you are incredible and I love you so much!

5 Years ago, one of the best days ever... the day I met you, my love:

This morning after blowing out your candles on your birthday donut you picked out:

I can't wait to celebrate you at your "Elsa" party next weekend!

Great Friends

You see, we have these GREAT friends.  I mean, awesome, really.  The Kimberlins have been our amigos for over ten years now.  Since moving back to Texas, we've been on the same track as far as babies go.... only, they have boys and we have girls.  It's perfect for pre-arranged marriages.

Our kids have grown up together in a sense.  Lets take a walk down memory lane, starting with Kennedie & Eli in womb to present day & see how our bunch has changed:

And then their friendship developed:

And then we added two more to the mix:

But the original two kept going strong:

And you'll notice a lull in pictures the more kids we add to the mix.  Apparently we didn't see the need to take any of Everett & Sawyer together.  But then we each added number 3 to the mix... and we decided almost a year after we should get some together.

Here is our crew from about a month and a half ago:

My how the times change!  Can't wait to see what our crew will look like in a few more years with a few more kiddos added in!

Random Catch Up

Through February and March we had lots of fun times!  Unfortunately I didn't have a spare minute to sit down and blog about all of our happenings.

Here is a quick catch up.

While it was cold out, we would let the girls watch a movie while Preslee napped.  99% of the time Sawyer would also take her nap in the middle of the movie, sometimes with Daddy:

Preslee got plenty of loving from Daddy too:

Kennedie dressed up as Thing #2 on Dr. Suess Day at school:

Sawyer was silly:

There was plenty of sister loving:

Kennedie & Lantz went on a date together.  They went to a Daddy-Daughter Tea at the church, and the theme was Frozen.  Needless to say Kennedie was SO excited, & they had TONS of fun together.

Well, we couldn't let Kennedie have all the fun.  Sawyer & Lantz decided they needed a date too! Lantz decided to take her to one of the student's in the youth group's play and to get pizza and ice cream.  Sawyer couldn't wait!!  When I told her she was going on a date with Daddy, she immediately went to the dress-up box to get ready.  She didn't know that her date wasn't Frozen themed like Kennedie's.  All she knew was that her sister got dressed up for a date, and so she was too.  She decided on her Anna dress, her Super "S" cape, her princess jewelry and crown, and her sparkle tennis shoes.  She also decided to pose herself for the pictures.  They obviously had a good time because ice-cream was involved!

We also had Open House at Kennedie's school.  We got to see her self-portrait and also a little dance in the gym.  It was fun to watch her in her element:

Such fun little memories spanning a few months time!
