Preslee is 5 Months Old

I can hardly stand to write this post!  I mean, how in the world is my baby girl already 5 months old?Sweet girl hit the 5 month mark 2 days ago. I seriously feel like I blink and another month just gets whisked away.  Preslee Ray is nothing short of amazing!  She is such a fun and easy going baby and I'm blessed to be able to call her mine!

Little Sunshine:

- You are smiling up a storm lately!  Your favorite targets are your sisters.  They can make you giggle and laugh almost without trying.  It's so fun to watch your interaction and your sheer awe of your sisters.  I'm still loving your big open mouth smiles & little baby giggles. It's so sweet.
- I hate to say it, but I think you are army crawling.  If I put something out in front of you and you are on your belly you can use your arms to pull you to where you want to go.  It's a long drawn out process, but I'm insanely impressed with your mobility already.
- Needless to say you are already rolling around like crazy.  Front to back, back to front, side to side... just rollin' all over the place.
- Because of your new found movement we took you out of your swaddle wrap that you'd been sleeping in.  Now when I lay you down to sleep on your back, it's only a matter of seconds until you roll right to your side or belly.  Lately you have been sleeping on your belly with your arms under your forehead.  Even when you are completely out of it asleep and I roll you back to your back, you immediately roll yourself to your side of belly.  You definitely know how you want to sleep and how you don't want to sleep.
- You are still eating great!  You are breastfeeding 6 times a day every 3 hours still. You have started pulling off of me when there is noise around.  To say you are a little distracted while you eat would be a fair statement.
- We wake you to eat sometime between 7:00 & 7:30 and lay you down sometime between 10:00 & 10:30.
- You have really been wanting to move around lately and wanting us to walk around with you.  You are not loving your bouncer so much lately.  You want to be up and in the action.
- You are currently in your 3-6 month clothing and size 2 disposable diapers.
-You are doing much better sitting up in your Bumbo for longer periods of time.
- You have started enjoying playing with some of your small little baby toys.  You are not as content just sitting and watching the world--- you like to have something to keep you occupied.
- I haven't noticed any teeth yet... we'll see if any come through this month.

Sweet baby girl, I'm seriously the luckiest Mommy in all the world!  I will never take for granted being able to call you mine.  My heart is full of gratitude to the LORD for entrusting your sweet little soul to us.  My heart aches when I think how great my love is for you.  My prayer is that the LORD will continue to fill me with HIS love that it may overflow out of me and onto you.  Thank you for sharing your sweet smiles and giggles with me and for being such a sweet, gentle, easy going little baby.  You truly are one of my great joys in life.  I love you more than I could ever tell you.

Kennedie Starts KR

So two weeks ago Kennedie started back to school.  This year she is in KR which stands for Kindergarten Readiness.... basically Pre-K.  Here are some first day of school pictures.  These were all done before school (when I thought we were running on time):

And then we loaded three girls in the van and realized we were running not early & not late, but right on time.  We showed up in Kennedie's room to find that she was the LAST one to school and that we got her there just as they were starting their first activity.  This was a huge Mom fail for me.  I wanted to get there early so that we could put her stuff in her cubby, talk about where she was going to sit, point out old friends from last year, and warm up to the teachers & take pictures with them.  Unfortunately we didn't get to do any of that.  Kennedie needed to sit down and start working and poor thing just broke down crying.  Here is the one picture I got of her in her classroom before school:

One of her sweet teachers sat with her and caught her up on what the other kids were apparently working on when their Mommies & Daddies got them there early, like good parents.

Needless to say I then proceeded to walk back to the van and have a complete melt down.  I sobbed uncontrollably because I thought I just ruined Kennedie's first day by not having her there early.  I truly felt awful because I just wanted her to have such a good start.

Luckily we prayed over her in the parking lot and before we got inside and realized that we were "late."  I also spent the day praying over her and asking God to bless her with a happy heart and a good day.

I'm so thankful for her sweet teachers.  I got a text of a happy and smiling Kennedie from one of them later that day.  My heart warmed and I was so thankful that the Lord had been hearing my prayers.

I made sure I was super early to pick her up. I didn't want to be the last parent there, so I made sure I was the first!

It was so awesome to have her run up and give me a GIANT hug after her first day and to see a HUGE smile on her face.  What an incredible blessing!

And since we missed all the pictures before school, we just got them after.  Here she is with her cubby and all three of her AMAZING teachers (I seriously can't sing their praises enough!  We are in our 3rd week of school and Kennedie has grown by leaps and bounds already & she LOVES these ladies!):

I had to grab a picture on her second day of school in her chapel outfit.  The outfit may be adorable on her, but the best part is that smile!!!  Do you think she had a great first day or what?!:

I love how the LORD gives us exactly what we need.  I'm so thankful that HE provided my Kennedie such incredible women to speak truth into her life this school year & to help her grow academically as well.  God is so good.

Summer 2014

So even though the blog has been a little quiet this summer it doesn't mean it's been quiet around here!  Summer has been one big crazy blur, but filled with lots of fun and memories. Here is a big picture of what we've been up to this summer with the youth group, family, & just every day!

Our summer started with swim lessons & Kennedie's 4th birthday!  Check out previous blogs to read all about those fun adventures.

Then we went to camp Kadesh at ACU with the high school kids.  What an amazing week!  I love that place.  It has challenged me spiritually since I was in high school & continues to do so to this day.  I feel blessed that we get to take teens there to grow their own faith, & I feel blessed that Lantz now gets to experience this with me. Here is a picture of our group for the week:

The girls joined Daddy for some "Popsicles in the Park" ministry:

We went to Abilene for Lantz's uncle's funeral and then spent some time with cousins:
I think they had fun, because this is what they looked like 2 minutes after we got in the car on the drive home  that weekend:

Preslee went to Bible class for the first time & has been there every week that we've been in town:

Love this image Lantz snapped of the girls at Chick-fil-a.  Kennedie is helping Sawyer take her shoes off:

Ummm... we played.... A.LOT. (I know that's not a word.) The girls have really been into Barbies lately.

Kennedie has taken her big sister responsibilities very seriously and been so sweet teaching Preslee Ray different Bible stories:

I turned 31 (Yikes!) and Lantz and I enjoyed a fun lunch date:

We've done some cooking and baking:

We celebrated the 4th of July by going to "Red, White, & Boom":

Lantz took another group to do mission work in Nicaragua. (I'm hoping we can all go next year!):

So blessed to have the most AMAZING sister-in-law EVER-- she came down, and brought my niece with her, and stayed with me while Lantz was in Nicaragua.  The girls may have had the most awesome time ever with their cousin.  They LOVE Mikalie:

We had a play date with Hattie.  Kennedie may have loved having both the little ones to "lead" around:

We all enjoyed some fun "play" time at the new apartment ministry that the teens are helping with on Wednesdays.  This was a fun round of Duck, Duck, Goose that all 3 of my girls and I were playing:

Some of us napped:

We all went to Houston to help an inner city Impact church with their all day/all summer VBS.  The girls had an amazing time & made tons of new friends:

We all went on the Senior Trip to Camp Eagle.  This year was very special for us, because we have been group leaders for this grade since they were in 8th grade.  They hold a special place in my heart & we had a great time together.  Our 3 girls did great going with the flow for those few days! Here is one picture from the trip-- it's of me & two of our sweet senior girls when we were hiking one day.  The others are all on the Go-Pro & haven't been uploaded yet:

We got to go swimming a handful of times this summer.  One time some sweet friends let us use their pool while they were on vacation.  Here are some pictures of our fearless girls jumping from the diving board & of all of us enjoying some time in the sun:

This past weekend we "ended" our summer with a bang at our annual Labor Day Retreat, Jump.  It was so much fun & such a great spiritually enhancing weekend with our teens.  On Saturday afternoon we had a fun color run (not really a run-- obstacle course/ mud pit).  I think the adults had just as much fun as the teens.  Here's a picture of Lantz and me with our seniors, then the whole group, then the two of us:

One word that I would use to describe this summer would be "whirlwind."  Between adding sweet Preslee into the mix this year, working on our house, and all the youth trips-- it was a busy time, but a completely blessed time.  What fun memories we made this summer!  God is so good!
