Kennedie is 2 & 1/2 Years Old

I can't believe that my sweet Miss K is closer to being 3 than she is 2.  Really?  On Thanksgiving Kennedie "turned" 2 & 1/2.  I feel like she is growing up so much and so fast.

My fun girl:

- You basically understand anything and everything that we tell you.  It's fun to communicate with you.  It's so precious that you can carry on conversations with us.
- You weigh 25lbs with your clothes & boots on.... still a tiny little girl. You wear 24 month & 2T clothing although it's all pretty baggy on you, and a size 6 shoe.  Pants are a whole other story... even 18month pants will fall off your waist.  We've gotten you some leggings & "tight" pants so that they'll fit you, but we still have to roll them under or safety pin them and the legs are no where near tight on you-- totally loose.
- You are so cute when we tell you that we are going to go do something that you really want to do. Your face will light up and you'll kinda clap and say with bright eyes, "Oh, dat'll be fun!... Yeah!" I love this so much....To. die. for.
- When you get in trouble you will try to avoid the subject by saying, "We go shopping in a little bit?"  You just repeat it over and over.  It's kinda frustrating and annoying... and yet all the while insanely adorable.  I think that's why it is annoying-- because you are getting in trouble and we are trying not to smile at your cuteness!
-Girlfriend, you LOVE going to the park!  Seriously.... all we have to do to make you happy is take you to the park... along with that you like Chick-fil-a because they have a "park."  You will point out Chick-fil-a while we are driving past, and you'll even ask to go there... not so fun that you know what it is and it's not even one of our favorite places to eat.  Why can't Chipotle have a "park"?  You especially love to "go higher" which means "swinging" in your vocabulary.
- Every now and then when you are really tired we will still catch you rubbing your ear.  This warms my heart for some reason... it's like a little piece of my "baby" Kennedie is still around.
- You LOVE Curious George!
- You still pretty much anything, but you've developed an opinion.  You'll go in moods where you say you don't like something, but then you'll eat it and be fine.  You don't like butter on your bread, or peanut butter from the jar.  You'll eat pb & normal butter if it's in something, but not direct.  You really like fruit snacks right now.... they make for great bribery.
- You are almost potty trained.  You wear diapers at night and during naps in case of an accident, but you pretty much wake up dry most of the time- 8 times out of 10.  Out in public you wear pull-ups, and at home you wear panties around the house.  You are starting to tell us when you have to potty, so that's been awesome!  Today you even told Daddy that you needed to "poop."
- You are down to one afternoon nap-- about 2 hours- sometimes a little shorter and sometimes a little longer depending on how tired you are.
- You are such a good big sister.  You love to make Sawyer laugh and you always want to know "Where's Sawjer?"
- You know that Mommy's name is "Jessa Howad," Daddy's name is "Laance Howad, " Sawyer's name is "Sawjer Sue Howad," and that your name is "Tiddle-dee Danell Howad."  You know the city you live in and where your Aunt Feather & Uncle Alice live.
- You can count to 11 (sometimes 12).  You can sing your "ABC's" even though it gets a little strung together.
- You have 4 Bible verses memorized: "God is with you wherever you go." - Josh 1:9  "Nothing can separate us from God's love." Romans 8: 39   "We have the Lord our God to help us and fight our battles for us." 2 Chronicles 32:8  "Two people are better than one.  They can help each other in everything they do." Ecclesiastes 4:9.
- Your favorite song to sing is "10,000 Reasons" which you call "bless the Lord oh my soul."  You'll tell us to "sing whit me."
- You understand the concept of hide & go & seek and you love playing.
- Lately you have been a little whiny and seem to be testing the waters again as far as discipline goes.  I think we are definitely in the 2's.
- When you get sick you just cry and whine..... ALL. DAY. LONG.  No cuddly, sleepy sick baby-- no.  A crying baby.  Yuck.  Needless to say no one wants you to get sick.
- When we ask you how much we love you, you'll say, "big, big... to da moon."  Love it.

Adorable little Kennedie, I can't put into words the amount of love that I have for you.  My heart swells with so much emotion when I think of you.  You are my precious first baby and you'll always be my girl.  I love how adventurous you are and how nice you are.  I love that you like to dance silly and sing loud.  I love that you have already started to develop a passion for God's word and that you so easily can understand God's truth.  I love to listen to your sweet voice offer prayers to God.  I love to watch you interact with your sister.  I love to hear you laugh and see your face light up.  You are a wonderful little girl and I'm so blessed to call you my own.  I love you so much...... big, big.... to the moon and back again!

Sick Girl....

Kennedie has been sick the last few days.  Bless her heart.  So this morning we decided to make a fortress with our blankets to cuddle and play in & watch movies in.  I'm hoping she'll feel better later today or tomorrow morning.  She hasn't really been sick a lot (huge blessing), but it's been a little rough on Lantz & me.  She is not really pleasant, to say the least, (but really, who is pleasant when they are sick?).

Anywho- Sawyer has been enjoying the fortress too, and we are all just hoping that Kennedie doesn't share this yucky-ness with the rest of us.

Here's hoping for a better afternoon & evening than morning!

Sawyer is 9 Months Old

It's hard to believe that my baby girl is already 9 months old!  I only have 3 more months until she is (shhhhh........ don't say it)........ one.   Sigh....... really?  I can't handle it.  In some ways it's been harder letting Sawyer grow up than it was with Kennedie.  I just feel like she should still be this itty-bitty thing in my arms.

Precious girl:

- You sit up like a champ!  Very rarely do you "bonk", but you will let yourself down slowly to get into a crawling position.
-Speaking of crawling, you are still not "officially" crawling yet--- which I'm totally okay with.  You are army crawling with your little legs dangling behind you, with a kick every now and then, but you haven't figured out how to really get up and use your legs.
- It seems like any day now you are going to pull yourself up.  You will reach for things and start to pull yourself up, but you can't get back your knees.  You barely get yourself pulled up to your knees and then you fall because you aren't quite strong enough to pull your bottom half up!  Love it!
- You started clapping this month!  You get so excited to clap!
- You have started having a bit of separation anxiety when you see Mommy or Daddy walk away, or if someone else is holding you.  It's not so bad, but it's definitely come out some this month.
- You HATE it if someone takes away a toy that you are looking at.  If you are playing with something and your sister takes it away, you cry... very loudly.  It's totally obvious that you are mad.  This also comes out at bath time especially.  At the end of bath time we have to pry some of your toys out of your hand before we wrap you up in a towel, and this makes you so MAD.  We always know to expect it... we think it's pretty cute!
- You also get frustrated if we leave you in a room by yourself for a few minutes.  You totally want to be right where the action is at!
- Your bottom 2 front teeth are in, and they are so cute!  I noticed yesterday that your top right tooth is barely trying to pop through right now.  Yesterday you were pretty fussy and I think that it's due to your new top tooth trying to come.
- You are now only breastfeeding 4 times a day.  I was a little worried about this transition, but you were a total rockstar & 100% ready for that.  (You eat about 8am, 12pm, 4pm, and somewhere between 9pm-10:30pm depending on if we are out late.)
- You eat solids after your 8,12, & 4 feeding and then again at 6:30.  You are now eating: rice cereal, peas, green beans, avocados, sweet potatoes, butternut squash (your favorite!), carrots, beans, apples, pears, peaches, & prunes.  You drink a little water and apple juice too.  You have had bananas, but I don't like to give them to you because you are still having  a "hard" time pottying.  I've also let you have some small tastes of some of our soup.  You've also had some puffs, but you still haven't gotten the whole "chew" it up movement down so you kinda choked (not major) on one- needless to say we are going to wait a few more weeks on that one.
- Speaking of food, you've also gotten an opinion on what you like and don't like.  You don't really care for green beans or carrots any more.  You will purposely gag on them and not open your mouth to eat them... a bit dramatic & stubborn... hmmmmmm.... not at all like your mother or sister.  :)
- You take 2 naps a day.... about 1&1/2 hours in the morning and 2-2 &1/2 hours in the afternoon.
- You LOVE to swing.  You've been swinging for several months now, but it's fun to see your face light up just like your sisters when we go to the park- awesome!
- You still have your big blue eyes and a touch of loose curls.  Your curls are not nearly as tight as what they were when your hair was shorter.  I think you'll just have some wavy hair.
- You are wearing 6-9 month clothing and 12 month clothing.  You are too long for your one piece 6-9 month pajamas, but all your 6-9 dresses & 6-9 2 piece outfits fit just perfect.  A few 12 month pieces are a little big on you, but most of it fits pretty good.. still growing into it.  We'll see how big you are when we go to the doctor in like 10 days.
- You are such a heavy wetter.  Like seriously.  At night in your cloth diapers we are having to put 2 normal pads in and 2 hemp pads... yes- 4 pads!  That's the only way we've found you don't wake up wet.  When we go out in public we have to make sure to have hemp pads in your diapers, and sometimes we just resort to disposables if we know we won't be able to change you easily within an hour or two.

Darling Sawyer, you are getting so big so fast, and it makes Mommy sad to see how fast time is going.  You are just the sweetest baby ever and you always seem so happy and content just hanging out in our arms.  You have really started developing more of a personality lately, and it's been so fun to discover who you are.  I love everything about you sweet girl and I feel so blessed to call you mine.  Your smile is to die for and we love it when you get excited to see us!  You are so precious, and I love you so much sweet girl.  My prayer is that as you continue to grow you will one day grow to know, love, and serve our heavenly Father.  He has blessed me so much by giving me a daughter as sweet as you.  I love you baby girl.

"You are my Sunshine" Party

So to show you what a terrible blogger I am... I am going to post some pictures from June.  Yes, June.  I have been meaning to post them for a while, but I'm just now getting around to it. They are on Facebook, but I want to document the reason behind the party.

In June, I helped Lantz throw a "Thank You" party for some awesome youth small group leaders.  Every Sunday in the school year Lantz teaches for about 20 minutes, and then the youth group breaks up into small groups to discuss the lesson more in depth and in age appropriate ways.  They are in groups according to their grade, and each grade level has 2 sets of AMAZING small group leaders.  These people are incredible!  They not only invest in our teens on Sunday morning, but also take time out of their busy lives to call, text, email, and write letters to teens in their groups.  They host events at their house for their small groups, and even come to events throughout the year to continue to build relationships.  They study with our teens and love on our teens and for that we are incredibly grateful.

So because these people are so awesome, we wanted to show our gratitude by throwing a party just for them.  We planned a dinner and fellowship night just for them.  It was awesome to also have a few of our teens help me decorate.  Our theme was, "You are my Sunshine."  We tried to make it nice and summer-ey with lemons & lace, but not to girly so we added a rustic feel with different things including an old chicken coop to hold the plates and burlap intermixed in the decor.  My sweet friend Andrea made her incredible gourmet cupcakes for our Candy Bar-- they were vanilla cupcakes with a lemon buttercream, and french toast cupcakes with a maple syrup buttercream... umm... pretty much heaven in your mouth!

It was a super fun night, but it was a lot of work to put together.  I really enjoy party planning, but I'm not going to lie.... this one was a little out of my talent zone.  I normally just decorate one main table with a few pops of party elsewhere, but this one included a food table, a candy bar table, a drink station, and then four tables for people to sit at to eat.  We also decorated the door from outside the hall into our Family Room where the party was held.  We didn't want them to feel like they were walking into a classroom and the church building, but kinda like a front door into someone's home.  Oh- we also had a fun playlist of "sunshine" themed music playing like, "You are my Sunshine," "I'm walking on Sunshine," and "Heavenly Sunlight" just to name a few.  We also had a few rounds of "THANK you" Bingo where we used old buttons and had several prizes.

All in all, it was loads of fun, and I'm glad that we were able to honor our sweet adults who pour into our teens so much!  Here are a few pictures of all the decor:

New Accomplishments....

So.... a few weeks ago Sawyer started clapping.  It is just too precious.  Check out some of the action below:

And.... yesterday she started saying her "l" sounds.... "lalalalalalala."  Just the sweetest sound ever.  Here are a few pictures from some play time last week:

Too Big!

I just can't handle it!  This little girl is just getting too big for her britches.  She is just too precious.  Yesterday she woke up from her nap and yelled, "Mom?..... Mom?..... Mom?........Mom?....Mom?"  Really?  She's 2 & 1/2 going on 13 apparently.  I quickly reminded her that my name is "Mom-meee."  I'm so not ready for her to call me "Mom."  *Sigh*  .... She just melts my heart everyday, but I don't want her growing up quicker than she needs to.

Happy Halloween!

We had a great Halloween this year!  Sawyer dressed up as a cute little dragonfly (big sister's old costume!).  Kennedie was little red riding hood.  My mom made her adorable little red cape and her white apron.  The red dress was my mom's dress when she was a little girl-- her grandmother made it for her.  So the dress was made by Kennedie's great, great grandmother- pretty cool huh?  We borrowed the little woodlands basket from Momma Jean & then just added some red & white material to lay in it.  Wha-la!  Cost us all of a big $4.  Gotta love that!

A few weeks ago we actually did a Halloween craft with the girls.  We got the idea from Pinterest & it was fun!  Kennedie was so funny!  She is such a clean little girl and really didn't like the idea of the paint on her feet.  We had a good time though!
Candy Corn feet!
The finished product!

We enjoyed our church's fall festival on Sunday night.  Kennedie especially loved the bounce house and cotton candy!  Here are some pictures from our evening:
In a daze-- ready to start all the festivities..... but you can see her full costume.

Hattie & Sawyer- the cutest bugs on the block.  (Hattie is my good friend Lindsay Chance's baby girl.)

She was trying to get into all the goodies!  Next year Sawyer!

The bounce house--- Kennedie's bff for the night!  She LOVED this thing.

Still bouncing.... we had to "jump" like 4 times that evening.... she barely wanted the candy- just the jumping.
On Halloween we trick-or-treated at Cowboy & Bee's house, Baba & Ooh-Daddy's house, and Momma Jean & Poppa's house.  We then went to Chipotle for $2 "Boo-ritos."  I was a hippy complete with a headband, tie dyed shirt, peace necklace, bell-bottoms, & guitar.  Lantz carried a picture frame & called himself a "self-portrait."  We went to church and ate & had a small devo, and then headed back to our neighborhood for some trick-or-treating.  Kennedie LOVED trick-or-treating!  She thought it was so fun to "knock-knock" and say "trick-or-treat."  She would knock and then sit her basket down on the doorstep.  She wouldn't hold it for the candy, she'd sit it down-- too funny!  Sawyer rode along in the wagon & just watched.  It was such a blessed family night for us!

I hope that your Halloween was as blessed as ours!
