Better late than never.....
This year Christmas was extra special around our house. It was the first time in 5 years that we did not have to travel for the holidays- we got to stay put for the whole week of festivities. But most importantly it was our first Christmas with sweet little Miss Kennedie. Actually, our Christmas present came about 7 months early this year.... we've had a saying around our house for awhile now, "It's like Christmas every day!" Lantz & I say this to each other almost every morning when we go to wake up Kennedie. This Christmas morning it was fun because it actually WAS Christmas.
It all started Christmas Eve. We decided that we'd start a tradition of making homemade sugar cookies & decorating them for Santa. It was alot more work than what I thought it would be, but it was so fun to start this new tradition for Kennedie.
Christmas Eve we went to our church's Christmas Eve service & then we also took some of our homemade cookies to the firehouse that was close to our house for the firemen working on Christmas Eve.
We came home & got Kennedie in bed & soon after we think we heard Santa eating cookies & leaving presents for Miss Kennedie. We are thankful that Santa decided not to leave too much because she sure did get a lot of presents from all of our family.
After waking up Christmas morning & seeing all the goodies that Santa brought & opening presents from each other we got a fun surprise. A sweet youth group family from church, who has become very dear to us, brought us over the most AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS homemade cinnamon rolls. They were awesome & it was such a neat surprise. We quickly loaded up & went to Baba & Ooh- Daddy's house (my mom's parents) for breakfast & stockings. Then we headed down to Aunt Danice's (my mom's sister) for white elephant. Then it was on our way to Momma Jean & Poppa's house (my dad's parents) for lunch & gifts. And then lastly it was back to our house for gift exchanges with Cowboy, Momma D, & Aunt Feather (my family). It was a LONG, but super fun day. Here are just a few pictures from our very long day:
We are blessed that the day after Christmas Lantz's sister & kids drove in to spend a few days with us. Lantz's mom & step dad also came up to spend a day with us & celebrate Christmas. Kennedie sure did enjoy playing with her Binky & Pop, Aunt K, & her cousins Braxton, Cason, & Mikalie. It was a relaxing & enjoyable time. We also got to drive out to Bonham to spend some time with Lantz's dad, step mom, Aunt Betty & Mimi (Lantz's dad's mom). Here are just a couple of pictures of playing with a new toy & a cousin picture:
Overall it was such a blessed Christmas... not because of the showering of gifts, but because of the showering of love from family. We have AMAZING families & we are so thankful that Kennedie gets to share in their lives. We are so blessed that the Lord has brought us back close to family & that we get to enjoy this sweet gift so frequently.
Oh..... Kennedie also got 2 new gifts.... sing with me, "All I want for Christmas are my two front teeth, my two front teeth!" That's right, Kennedie got 2 bottom teeth! One found on Christmas day by her Momma D & one found 2 days later by her Binky! So both the grandmothers are the official teeth finders! Wish I had a picture of the two, but I don't.... I'll see if I can get one.
Hope your holidays were as blessed as ours!
