Furniture

Love Craig's List! No really. It is so great! We've sold so much on there and gotten some amazing deals too! A few months ago we bought a wooden rocking chair for $20 and a solid oak nine-drawer dresser for $80. Both in EXCELLENT condition! Here they are soon after purchase with me about 26 or 27 weeks preggo:

Here is the rocking chair complete in Kennedie's room (the blue in this picture looks brighter than the actual Tiffany's blue that is on the wall-- in room it is the same color as the Tiffany's box):

And, Lantz is still working on the dresser that will double as our changing station. Here it is in the garage with some black paint. He's got to go back and do touch ups & we've got to add her "bling" hardware:

So yeah... L.O.V.E. Craig's list... such awesome deals!

Pre- Shower

Like I've said before, I have honestly not bought Kennedie one outfit. I decided to wait until after our showers before purchasing anything.... I'm going to wait and see what all she gets. But... here are a few little outfits that she's gotten pre-shower:

She's got a little tom-boy meets girlie-girl going on. Ha!

Here are two little blankets she's gotten. One super soft plush pink blanket with a K on it, and an adorable little Taggies giraffe blanket:

And then- you probably remember her cute little burp cloths that her Aunt Feather (my sister- Heather) mailed her a few months ago:

And then, last but not least some of her cute little tiny socks. I love that she has a green and a pink pair of John Deere socks.... she's just going to need some cute little country outfits to go with them!

I can't wait to see what cute little things she gets from our showers! And if she doesn't get any clothes... well.... darn... I guess I'll have to break down and go shopping for her! Ha!

Craftsy

So, I have to admit that I'm not a very craftsy person. I don't know how to sew. I don't scrapbook. I don't really "make" anything. So.... I am pretty proud of myself because I attempted a project and I think it came out great! I made Kennedie some hair clip flowers. They are pretty huge, so she won't get to wear them until her head is a bit larger.

Anyways- I bought some gerber daisies, some jewels, some ribbon, and some hair clips.

I first hot glued ribbon around the metal hair clip so it won't hurt her head. (I plan on clipping it them to head bands... she may not have any hair for awhile- I came out bald, so we'll see what happens.)

Next I took the flower apart. I then hot glued the biggest flower piece down to the middle of the ribbon covered hair clip. Then I just hot glued each flower piece separately down making sure to line it up with the bottom one.

After I glued the last flower piece down- you have any empty middle of the flower. I then glued down a jewel piece--- she's going to be blinging!

Pictures:

So.... until Kennedie can grow into these large flower bows- her mom has been borrowing them from time to time!

Fun little project- especially for those of you out there who'd wear one yourself, or if you have a cute little girl to clip one on. Hey- if I can do this- anyone can!

32 Weeks & Happy Birthday

Today marks 32 weeks for baby girl Kennedie! Wow! I can't believe that we only have 8 more weeks.... YES!!! I'm getting so excited.

Today is also a very special day. The cutest niece in the whole world turns 5 today!!! I can't believe that Mikalie is getting so big. She is going to be such a great big cousin to Kennedie-- she is such a ham! Happy Birthday Mik!

Sermon

A week and a half ago Lantz preached an amazing sermon about the art of telling stories in your family. If you are interested you can listen to it HERE. (It opens automatically into an MP3 format.)

I hope you enjoy it and get as much out of it as I did.

I'm so blessed to have such an awesome warrior for God as my husband and the leader of our household.

I look forward to raising our children with Lantz. I know that he will be an amazing dad!

hmm...

Not a whole lot going on here. Thanks for your sweet comments about Kennedie's sneak peak nursery ideas. We are pretty excited about it and are ready for the room to come together.

This past weekend was pretty relaxing-- not a whole lot. Friday night we stayed in and lounged around watching basketball. Saturday Lantz got up and went to the REI garage sale (no Bob strollers) while I shopped for a few gifts. We ran a couple of errands together, and then ate dinner at a yummy pizza place called Grimaldi's. Sunday after church Lantz played softball with some youth and adults from church while I picnicked on the side-line with some lovely ladies.

Monday- school. Today- school. So yeah... not a whole lot. Sorry I'm a bore. Although, my cousin Brandon and his wife Sara are in town and so we are hoping to meet up with them tonight! So- that should be fun if it works out!

Nursery Sneak Peak!!!

Well... I can honestly say that we have not done much for Kennedie's nursery, but we do have a direction.

Below you'll find a little bit of a "sneak peak" as to what we have planned. We debated and debated on colors, but we settled on black and white with another bold color. Our bold color took us the longest to figure out. We went from red to yellow to .... dun, dun, dun, dun: Tiffany's turquoise blue!! As soon as we decided on our bold color outside of black and white- a room started to unfold in our minds. We like to call it her "bling" room!

We'll start with furniture. Black. We still have to buy the crib, but here is a picture of a black crib with our bedding and a picture of our black rocker. (You can see the wall color & chair rail behind the chair. And this was our "steal" of a rocking chair- we bought it on Craig's list for $20 and painted it black.)

Here are some small "touches" that will be around the room:

I have so many ideas in my head, but this is all I will share for now since it's only a sneak peak and not the actual reveal! Let me know what you think!

31 Weeks

Kennedie is 31 weeks today! Only 9 more and then hopefully I'll get to meet my sweet little princess.

P.S. Hopefully a sneak peak of some nursery ideas will be coming soon.

Tag--- photo

My friend Amanda tagged me in this fun little game. Here are the rules.

Open your first photo folder on your computer.
Scroll to the 10th picture.
Post that pic and the story behind it.
Tag other people.

So, here is my picture:

As you can tell, this picture is from my wedding day.... December 18, 2004. (Wow! I still can't believe that I've been married to the man of my dreams for over 5 years. Time flies when you are having fun!) This picture is of my and my awesome dad in the Cotton Mill Warehouse where Lantz and I were married at! I was so nervous this day, but I think Dad was just as nervous as I was. I know that wedding days have to be scary for all dads out there, cause they worry about their little girls, and now they have to trust some boy to take care of them.

I have one of the best dads ever. He has always been my rock and someone I can depend on. He is loyal and trust worthy. He has always put us 3 girls (mom, Heather, & me) first. He is so funny & always makes me laugh. He is caring and sensitive.... (Dad & Lantz both probably easier than I do!)

My dad is incredible, and I know that he is going to make a wonderful grandfather. I know Dad was hoping for a grandson, but he's done so great with my sister and I that I think God knew that he'd be just fine with a granddaughter. He'll get to teach Kennedie all the fun things that Heather and I got to learn from him growing up- shooting a bow, fishing, driving a tractor, riding a horse, and the list could go on and on.... I know that Kennedie will love to go and see her "Cowboy."

So yeah... 10th photo in the first album is a pretty special one... I love you Dad!

I tag:

Love/Hate Relationship

I have a love/hate relationship with Walmart. I love it because you can pretty much find anything there for a reasonable price. I hate it because everyone and their dog shops there.

I visited Walmart this afternoon and was reminded of these very strong feelings.

Weekend

This weekend has been such a blessing. Lantz and I traveled about an hour and a half outside of Las Vegas to the Valley of Fire. We've lived here for almost 5 years and never been out there, but we had heard that it was gorgeous. So, we loaded up Cooper and a picnic basket and made our way out there for an afternoon picnic. It was so nice to just get out of town for a few hours and soak up the sunshine and beauty of God's creation. It was so relaxing to just chill and not let the things of this world distract us. I can honestly say that I had so much fun and I value the times that Lantz and I get like that. Here are a few pictures of the trip:

Today was also a blessing because Lantz got to preach this morning. Every time he stands in front of the congregation, my heart swells with pride for him. I'm so honored and blessed to have such a compassionate man of God as my husband. The Lord has truly blessed Lantz with an ability to stand in front of a group of people and deliver the Word of Life to them. He is so personable and connectable while preaching. I love to hear God speak through my husband- such an awesome and incredible thing! Tonight he'll also preach, and so I'm looking forward to getting a double dose today!

I hope that your weekend was just as blessed as my weekend!

30 Weeks

Yesterday marked 30 weeks for Miss K and me. I can't believe that we only have 10 weeks left!!! I'm so ready to meet her. We went to the doctor yesterday and all looks great. From here we now go to the doctor every two weeks. Crazy. I'm just so ready to hold her and look at her and love on her! Last night two of our good friends here in Vegas had their baby. They did not know the sex of the baby until SHE came out- that's right they had a girl. I cried this morning reading their text and looking at the picture that they sent over. I'm so excited for them, but it made me want to hold my little girl that much more.

There are several things to look forward to before Kennedie comes along, and so I'm just trying to stay focused on that and not wish this time away. I know that these are precious days that Lantz and I will never be able to get back, and once our little girl comes it will be a very different lifestyle for us. It's so hard not to get wrapped up so much in sweet baby girl and stay focused on each day as a gift from God. I'm so blessed with such an amazing husband, and these last 10 weeks I'd like to stay focused on that relationship.

Weight

Well... in case you are wondering I'm 30 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. Yup... that's right three zero..... that's how much I've gained thus far with still 10 & 1/2 weeks left. Today was the first week at the Y that I weighed myself that I hadn't gained any weight in the last week. I walk every Tuesday at the YMCA, and so I normally weigh myself. Last week and this week I weighed the exact same amount.... don't know if that's good or bad, but it's a fact.

Just thought I'd share.

Favorite Hymnal...

A few weeks ago Aja wrote a post and mentioned one of my favorite "old school" church hymnal songs, "Victory in Jesus." Yesterday in church I really enjoyed the song service and it made me think about some of my favorite "oldie" hymnals. Hands down, for several years "Victory in Jesus" has been one of my favorite songs. Every time I sing it I feel a rush of grace and my faith is renewed. Such powerful words... I love the the second verse so much:
"I heard about His healing,
Of His cleansing pow'r revealing.
How He made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, "Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,"
And somehow Jesus came and bro't
To me the victory."

Anyways, I love all the lyrics so much. Although this song really means alot to me, recently the song "Blessed Assurance" has come to be a new favorite. I love all the new Christian songs so much, but there are so many of the old ones that touch my heart and bring a feeling of peace.

What is your favorite "oldie" hymnal??

Symphony

Saturday night Lantz and I got the opportunity to go to the Las Vegas Philharmonic Symphony. Our good friends Steve and Vanessa gave us tickets because they were going to be out of town. It was a very neat experience. I have never been to a symphony before, so now I can say that I officially have gone. They played & sang songs for Evita, Hello Dolly, and Les Miserables-- very talented people.

It was a fun/funny night with a few silly circumstances. One funny was pictures. We took a picture of ourselves before we went out because we haven't taken one together in a few months. It was quit the experience..... we had to line it up and do the self timer. We took like 10 before we got the final product. I thought I'd share a few of the "practice settings" with you. Ha! (You can see my belly mid-week and not have to wait until Thursday.) This was a huge ordeal that took way too much time considering we were running late.

Lantz lining up the picture, so one of just me:

We thought it was lined up, and it was for me- just not for my 6'4" husband:
And finally (keep in mind 10 photos later) we ended up with this one:

Okay, so funny #2.... you know how I said we were running late? Yeah well, we rushed and scarfed down our dinner to get there by 6:00.... yea... we showed up and the doors were locked and no one was around. We were worried we had the wrong night, so we pulled out the tickets, and it was the right night, just the wrong time! Ha! It didn't start until 8:00!!! So, it turns out all that rushing and scarfing was just not necessary. So, we went to Barnes & Noble got some coffee and read some magazines until time to go back up to the theater.

It was a very fun a memorable night, and I feel so blessed that our friends thought of us to share their tickets.

Saturday

Umm.... well.... not much going on here at 9:15 am. In my head I feel like I have a to-do list a mile long, and yet my head can't convince my body to get up and start on it. I just feel so lazy this morning- especially after a week of testing.

Cooper needs a bath really bad. I need to give him one today before he stinks up the whole house.

I need to help Lantz clean/organize stuff taken out of Kennedie's closet. Her room just has piles of stuff laying around in it right now. It's crazy how such a small closet can hold so much random "stuff" and now we need to get all that "stuff" somewhere else. Yuck- not a fun project.

I should do some laundry.

I need to make my grocery list.

I should do some nursery stuff so that I can show yall some pictures of something- or at least show off some ideas I have.....

So yeah..... several things I should do, and yet can't find the motivation for any of it right now.

29 Weeks

Moving right along! 29 weeks today- that means 11 more and we'll finally get to meet our sweet baby girl! I'm so excited!

Today after reading my friend Crysty's blog I got really excited about trying to "put" Kennedie's room all together. John and Crysty are expecting a sweet little boy, Eli. Check out Crysty's neat ideas of how she is planning on incorporating her husbands love of Batman. Even though they are having a boy and we are having a girl- and our rooms are totally different- it got me in the decorating spirit!

A Few Thoughts....

Random:

- My feet hurt. Did I mention I hate testing, and walking around all the desks for 2 hours?
- Lantz is in the process of cleaning out Kennedie's closet. It's been a storage place for 5 years.
- I miss family.... oh... Heather is going on a Spring Break campaign next week to Maine- I'm excited for her.
- Kennedie's room is all painted- now just to add the chair rail and the walls will be complete.
- I should break down and buy a few more maternity things... but I really don't want to spend the money. I just feel like I keep rotating the 6 things I have in my closet and it's not cute anymore.
- I need a new cell phone. Mine stinks.
-Lantz is taking a guitar class. Hopefully he'll be able to play a complete song soon.
- The Bachelor: As much as I liked Tenley (she was my favorite- and yet she was kinda like straight out of a Disney movie), I'm kinda glad he picked Vienna- I didn't hate her like everyone else- I think she got a bad edit. You could tell she really was in love with him. I admit it- I cried when he proposed to her. We'll see if they last. Not crazy excited about Ali being the new Bachelorette... not sure why, I liked her- but not crazy about her being on the main one. And... well I guess if Jason was going to dump Melissa on national tv for Molly it's a good thing he and Molly are getting married. We'll see if their wedding compares to Trysta & Ryan's......

That's all I got. Have a great Wednesday!

Testing = Blah!

This week at school we have fabulous CRT testing which equals yuckiness all the way. I hate that we test kids like crazy. It is so boring and it totally takes away their desire to learn.

Okay... and now why I especially hated testing today:
1. It went 30 minutes over the scheduled time which meant chaos the rest of the day.
2. My air conditioner stopped working which meant my room was like 800 degrees (says the already hot pregnant woman). ( I may have to wear a tank top tomorrow.)
3. Monitoring the test, aka walking up and down the isles for 2 &1/2 hours, every second to make sure there is no "testing security" problems, stinks when you are 30 pounds over your normal weight and did I mention hot..... not fun. (I may wear house shoes tomorrow too.)
4. Prep period reduced from 50 minutes down to 25 minutes..... = 25 less minutes to get things accomplished/sit and rest for a few......

Blah!!!! Yucky day, and 4 more to follow!!! Hopefully at least the air will be working tomorrow- that'd be nice.
