Well, you've waited long enough... or maybe that's me... anyways... I'm proud to present to you our sweet little girl's "Kennedie & Co. Nursery." Bear with me, I have worked really hard and have lots of pictures... so this is a warning that you are probably going to get an overload of pictures and information. I'll apologize in advance...I'm just so excited about how it turned out! My family is really anxious to see all the "details" of the room, so if you just want to see pictures you may want to skip to the bottom and view the slide show.
First of all, this was a very awkward space to work with... we have two windows in a corner and then two doors on one wall. Plus the space is pretty tiny compared to our other rooms, so that made it a bit of a challenge with the size of our furniture. Also, we really wanted something fun, sassy, and bold... not your typical nursery-- we kinda want to see her grow into the room which is why we tried not to make it to babyish. Plus Lantz and I are super frugal so we tried to do this as much on a budget as possible.
We'll start with what you see when you walk into the room. I love that the Tiffany & Co. turquoise doesn't over power the room & that there are just tiny hints of it. I like that the black makes it a very bold room:
Now lets look at her dresser/ changing station. Remember that we got the dresser off of Craig's List for $80 and that it is solid wood. Lantz painted it black and added cute little "bling" hardware to accent the room. The changing box is from Ross- $10. My mom made the lamp to look chandelier-like since we couldn't afford a real chandelier. The lamp was on sale for $10 at Hobby Lobby & she added $1 pearl/diamond jewelry to finish it off. The mirror looks gold for some reason in the pictures but it's really silver in person. It was $20 at Ross. Notice the cute Kennedie & Co. box with diamonds laying in the material. Okay:
Alrighty, now for the side table that Lantz made. I explained to him that I wanted something small that I could stick a basket in on the top shelf and have books on the bottom shelf. I found a basket at Ross for like $5 and then painted it the same color as the room (Behr - Sweet Raphsody), and then he measured and cut the wood according to the basket. I love how it turned out & that it was under $20 for him to make. On the side table I have a small lamp ($10) and a figurine ($5) from Ross, along with a small clock, Tiffany box, and diamonds.
Above the side table I have 3 hanging shelfs with some decor. My mom made the "bling" bottle and pacifier, and the Damask "picture" behind it is actually a paper plate from my shower. You can see a little card box that matches the changing box, diamonds, and the letter "K" that was made by a friend. Next to the side table you'll see the rocking chair & ottoman. The rocking chair was a $20 Craig's List purchase painted black. We just added some throw blankets over the back (the crown & Kennedie blanket was a gift from a friend), and a chandelier pillow purchased from cafepress.com. The black ottoman doubles also as storage-- from Target for $20.
The curtains are great! They block out like 99% of light and help the electricity bill and help block out noise. I found them on sale at Walmart for $10 a panel!!! I love that there is the small detail of "bling" on the rods. We got the rods from Lowes and then painted them black because they were originally a brown color.
Okay, so her bed is the only piece of furniture that we bought new. It is a DaVinci Emily crib and it had great ratings. We bought it off of Target online using gift cards from the shower. Her bedding is Trend Lab Versaille and it helped inspire the room. My mom made the Tiffany & Co. jewelry box top inspired pillow, and Lantz really wanted a panda bear in her room since we were doing black and white. Above her bed the black mirror, and 2 silver picture frames were purchased at Goodwill for $2- $3 each and we just painted them. The "Glam" picture with dress was from my mom, the "K" was made by Lantz's cousin, and the Kennedie & Co. jewelry box top was from her baby shower.
Finally, the wall between her closet door & the room door. Again, this was a very awkward space because I didn't want to put anything between the two doors so I could have easy access to the closet. So- a friend gave me the two picture frames that match her bedding, so one holds a picture of Lantz and me & the other holds one of Kennedie's 4D sonogram picture.
There you have it!! If you made it through this entire post I'm very impressed. I wanted to document the whole room for my files, and also for family who I know are very interested with how it all turned out.
If you just wanted to skip to the bottom to see all the pictures then here they are in a slide show:
Now all that is missing is our sweet baby girl! I can't wait to bring Miss K home and show her her glammed-out, bling-bling, bold nursery!!!
Oh... P.S. I put her room on HGTV's Rate My Space. If you are feeling very friendly and generous I'd love for you to go over and rate it (a 5 would be awesome). Just click HERE to go over & rate it.
